The Rochester-Genesee Regional Transit Service (RTS) broke ground July 21 on its new bus maintenance facility in Wyoming County, N.Y. Construction of the new facility is now underway and scheduled for completion in late summer or early fall of 2024.
Ninety percent of the funding for this $10.3 million project comes from the federal and state governments, with the remaining 10 percent covered by RTS. When the 20,000 square foot facility is complete, it will include:
- Nine indoor bus bays
- A vehicle wash bay with an automated drive-through bus wash system
- Administrative office space
- A break room that doubles as a training room
- Designated parking
“This is an exciting day for RTS and public transit in Wyoming County,” said Miguel Velázquez, CEO of RTS. “The construction of this new facility will help our team carry out our mission of providing vital, safe and sustainable transportation services that connect the community and promote a better quality of life.”
