Four new Edmonton Transit System (ETS) bus routes equipped with Smart Bus technology will begin providing enhanced service to customers in south and southeast Edmonton on June 29.
Smart Bus uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to allow ETS customers to use the Internet and mobile devices to track their buses in real time, allowing for more increased predictability, reliability and accessibility, as well as enhanced safety. The four new Smart Bus routes will operate out of the ETS Ferrier Garage in southeast Edmonton:
- Route 33 (WEM-Brander Gardens-Southgate-Millgate-Meadows)
- Route 72 (Mill Woods Transit Centre-Silver Berry-Millgate)
- Route 78 (Century Park-South Edmonton Common-Ellerslie Crossing-Mill Woods Towne Centre)
- Route 79 (Mill Woods Transit Centre-Summerside-South Edmonton Common-Century Park Transit Centre)
With the addition of these new routes, Smart Bus is now enabled on eight ETS bus routes. Customers traveling these routes will be able to track their buses in real-time using desktop computers or mobile devices at ETSLive.edmonton.ca.
