The Dallas Area Rapid Transit board officially approved renaming a future Orange Line station.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit board officially approved renaming a future Orange Line station.

At the request of Irving, DART agreed on April 9 to change Carpenter Ranch Station to Hidden Ridge Station to tie-in with the city's $1 billion project nearby.

That 110-acre mixed use development for Verizon Communications Inc. includes retail and restaurants, apartments, a hotel and additional office space.

Agreeing to the change now allows DART to incorporate the name into future construction with no incremental costs.

The station, which was deferred from original construction to DFW International Airport in 2010, boasts 136 parking spaces, six bus bays and five kiss-and-ride spaces.

Hidden Ridge Station will connect the mixed-use project with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and downtown Dallas. Construction is set to begin later this summer with a planned revenue start date of May 2020.
