TARTA is preparing to close the hub at 5:00 p.m. May 30, with estimated reopening set for late July.

In the coming days, the Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA)’s downtown Transit Hub will close for renovations.

TARTA is preparing to close the Hub at 5:00 p.m. May 30, with estimated reopening set for late July.

Planned improvements during this time include asbestos abatement throughout the building, and painting, floor, ceiling and insulation replacements in certain areas. Stough & Stough of Sylvania will serve as the architecture firm on the project.

“We appreciate the patience of our customers and community partners as we work our way through these improvements,” said TARTA CEO Laura Koprowski. “While we understand it’s an inconvenience, closing the building will allow us to get all the work done as quickly as possible.”

TARTA fixed-route buses will continue to line up outside of the hub on Cherry Street and Huron Street as renovations take place. Customers will have access to the area outside of the hub, including shelters and portable restrooms on Huron Street.

Customers will continue to have access to route information by contacting TARTA information operators. All trips on TARTA vehicles remain zero-fare through July 31.
