Former Acting Administrator of the Federal Transit Administration Carolyn Flowers has been named a partner and managing principal of InfraStrategies LLC.
Flowers joins current principals Jeff Boothe, Sharon Greene, Jeff Morales and Mike Schneider at the firm, which says it focuses on developing creative and credible solutions for infrastructure programs and projects, with special emphasis on project funding and financing and a focus on realistic and sustainable pathways to success for transportation and infrastructure development.
Flowers led the Charlotte Area Transit System as public transit director and CEO before being appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as Acting FTA Administrator. Following her time at the FTA, Flowers returned to the West Coast, where she had previously spent nearly two decades with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, to work as the national transit practice leader for Aecom.
Flowers said, “I look forward to continuing my work serving clients and projects and mentoring young professionals in the field together with my colleagues and respected industry leaders who comprise InfraStrategies. The creativity and professionalism represented by the firm provides a unique and flexible base to deliver strategic advisory services to public authorities and private organizations seeking to improve infrastructure facilities and services.”
InfraStrategies Managing Principal Mike Schneider added, “My colleagues and I are pleased to welcome a person with Carolyn’s stature, professional achievements and experience in the industry as a partner in the firm. She will add immeasurably to InfraStrategies’ capabilities and thought leadership in the transportation and infrastructure space and will undoubtedly leverage the knowledge and expertise our team brings to a broader base throughout the country and abroad.”
InfraStrategies explains that it was formed in 2018 to address the need to link project development and construction with project financing and funding in an objective, realistic and independent manner, and to support informed decisions and manage transport and infrastructure endeavors based on fiscal prudence, resiliency, environmental justice and the advancement of inspired solutions. The firm has offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. The firm's Senior Consultant Amanda Wall Vandegrift was named one of Mass Transit's 2018 Top 40 Under 40.
