MI: Snyder Urges Metro Detroit Leaders to Get Regional Transit on the Fall Ballot

Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday urged metro Detroit leaders to put regional transit back on the ballot this fall and not wait for 2020, saying "no question ... the sooner the better" to get some new system approved.

Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday urged metro Detroit leaders to put regional transit back on the ballot this fall and not wait for 2020, saying "no question ... the sooner the better" to get some new system approved.

But Snyder stopped short of saying how that new public transit system should look or whether Wayne and Washtenaw counties should move ahead on their own without Oakland and Macomb, where opposition defeated the 2016 ballot effort on transit.

Snyder spoke at the Detroit Regional Chamber's State of the State event and offered a five-point plant to keep Michigan moving forward.
