WI: Valley Transit Fare Increase Reflected in Budget

With 90 percent of Valley Transit's revenue generated from charges for rides and bus passes, an increase in fares starting Monday is expected to generate an additional $100,000 in revenue, according to Appleton's 2015 budget.

Single-ride fare is increasing from $1.80 to $2, and adjustments also are being made to period and multiple ride passes. Valley Transit II, which provides specialized transportation for people with disabilities, will increase its ticket price from $3.60 to $4 per ride.

With a supplemental $120,659 expected to come in from sources like state and federal grants, Valley Transit plans to receive $1,824,835 in revenue this year, up from the $1,740,022 in 2014 projected revenues.
