Hyperloop One recently announced as a leading participant of The Dubai Future Accelerators, an intensive 12-week program that pairs top companies and cutting-edge entrepreneurs with government and corporate partners in Dubai to create breakthrough solutions on a city-wide, regional and global scale. With a fully-functioning team on the ground in Dubai, Hyperloop One and its government entity partner, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), will work together to develop a potential Hyperloop network for Dubai.
“This narrative of an extremely progressive idea is perfectly aligned with the vision of the United Arab Emirates,” said His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, minister of cabinet affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and vice-chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation. “We are looking to drive discussions about the challenges that we and the world face, and come up with solutions for the future of transportation.”
“The Dubai Future Accelerators and Hyperloop One share a common goal: to change the world by connecting people and making their lives easier,” said Shervin Pishevar, chairman, Hyperloop One. “We are excited to work with them to help lead innovation for the region.”
The Dubai Future Accelerators is being run by the Dubai Future Foundation as part of the Dubai Future Agenda. Hyperloop One will be part of the Dubai Autonomous Transport Strategy agenda with the RTA, which is focused on building the world’s most advanced transportation infrastructure for the city and region.
“We are pleased to have Hyperloop One as a featured participant of our Dubai Future Accelerators program,” said His Excellency Saif Al Aleeli, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation. “It is a great combination of innovative thinking and engineering skill which will drive our 21st century solutions that will connect the people of Dubai and the rest of the world.”
“We believe that the Dubai Future Accelerators is the venue that will put into motion the creation and implementation of a Hyperloop for Dubai to connect the entire region,” said Rob Lloyd, CEO, Hyperloop One. “We see Hyperloop as an incredible asset for the region, not only as a new mode of transportation for moving passengers and cargo, but as a key driver for the economy.”
The Future Accelerators will focus on seven "21st century challenges" that represent significant opportunities for economic growth, job creation and social development for the city of Dubai. The challenges involve the application of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics, genomics, 3D printing, distributed ledgers, biomimicry and biotechnology, as well as new business models and ways of working. The challenges highlight important areas of Dubai government innovation, including healthcare, education, transportation, infrastructure, renewable energy and digital transformation.
“The Dubai Future Accelerators Program is the perfect environment to help push Hyperloop creation and development to the next level,” said Josh Giegel, president of engineering, Hyperloop One. “I am looking forward to bringing the best minds in the world together with our team in Dubai to generate concepts, plans and solutions to make Hyperloop a reality.”
