One of the Metro Council's leading critics of Nashville's $5.4 billion transit referendum proposal says he's preparing to unveil his own transportation plan, one he says would incorporate new technology, not rail.

One of the Metro Council's leading critics of Nashville's $5.4 billion transit referendum proposal says he's preparing to unveil his own transportation plan, one he says would incorporate new technology, not rail.

Councilman Robert Swope, a regular touter of autonomous vehicles, said he's eyeing an April 10 release of what he calls "intelligent transit for the 'It City.'"

That's one day before the first day of early voting for the May 1 transit referendum — and the timing isn't by accident.
