The GoPass app is now available for riders of the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority (Tulsa Transit), providing a new way to pay without having to carry cash or card.
The new app is designed to be an all-in-one tool for a more convenient transit experience. Riders can plan their trip, find their bus and instantly purchase a pass. An un-banked option will also be available to those without a bank account.
The GoPass app, created by Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) and launched in 2013, was the first public transit ticket-purchasing app in the nation that involved multiple agencies and different types of transportation, says DART.
"The GoPass app is a faster and easier way to ride," said Ted Rieck, general manager of Tulsa Transit. "Riders can easily plan, pay and go at the touch of a button, making the routes faster for everyone. The free download makes transactions paperless without the worry of having exact change. We hope both new and current riders try it and love it."
Tulsa Transit hopes this new technology will make public transportation in the city more convenient and safer, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.
The GoPass app is already in use by transit agencies in nearby Denton (DCTA) and Fort Worth (Trinity Metro), both part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
"We are excited to bring GoPass's unparalleled services to Tulsa Transit riders," said Gary Thomas, DART's president and executive director. "Through this new partnership with Tulsa, the GoPass mobility management platform will provide state-of-the-art ease of use and equity for customers in the Tulsa area."
