Palm Tran broke ground on a major expansion and renovation of its South County Facility on April 23, 2019, at 2 p.m.  The facility, located at 100 N. Congress Avenue in Delray Beach, is being expanded from about 3,800 square feet into a three-story, roughly 34,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility for bus maintenance and offices. The upgrades and expansion will also give Palm Tran the ability to charge fully electric, zero emissions buses in the future. In addition to adding needed office space and a public meeting room, the project will enable Palm Tran to service an additional 20 buses at the location for a total of 87 buses.

The $25 million dollar project, being executed by Morganti Inc. and Cooper Construction, is primarily federally funded.

The project is a partnership of Palm Tran and County Facilities Development and Operations.  Notably, the construction project also exceeds goals for participation of minority and female-owned businesses. The newly expanded building is expected to be move-in ready in late 2020.
