The VIA Metropolitan Transit Police Department will host a National Night Out celebration at Centro Plaza from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018. VIA customers and the community are invited to take photos with VIA’s iconic mascots, meet VIA Transit Police officers, and enjoy complimentary food and entertainment. The event is free and open to the public.

VIA supports National Night Out and its mission to make our communities safer and more caring places to live. National Night Out is an annual event that celebrates community partnerships between neighbors and local law enforcement.

“National Night Out provides our Transit Police and passengers an opportunity to meet and continue to build relationships that help keep our community a safe place to live, work, play, and ride,” VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt said. “It’s a celebration with a purpose — to solidify partnerships and strengthen valuable connections with the public. NNO complements our everyday efforts to enhance customer service.”

VIA Transit Police are dedicated to serving the traveling public by working with our community, customers, and law enforcement partners to create a safe environment throughout VIA’s service area. VIA Transit Police officers maintain a presence at VIA facilities, offices, transit centers, shelters and stops, and the routes where VIA operates.
