Keolis Commuter Services, the MBTA’s commuter rail operating partner, has announced that the CapeFLYER will return for another summer of service from Boston’s South Station to Cape Cod. Offering round trips, the service will operate Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through Labor Day. No reservations are required and easy connections to other points of interest on the Cape can be accessed via the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority.
“We are happy to work with the CCRTA and MBTA to provide a unique service for leisure travelers this summer,” said David Scorey, general manager and CEO, Keolis. “This scenic train ride to Cape Cod is an excellent option to save time, money and avoid the hassle of infamous Cape traffic.”
The CapeFLYER service begins at Boston’s South Station and stops in Braintree, Brockton, Middleboro, Wareham and Buzzards Bay, ending in Hyannis. A round-trip ticket from South Station to Hyannis is $40, and children 11 and under with a fare-paying adult ride free. Dogs and bikes are also welcome on board. Tickets are available now via the mTicket app will be available for purchase at the MBTA Commuter Rail ticket offices at South Station, North Station and Back Bay station the week prior to Memorial Day. Blonde on the Run Catering will operate a café car selling food, beverages, beer and wine.
To make day trips convenient and affordable a $15 round-trip ticket for same-day travel on Sundays is being introduced for summer 2018. These special tickets are not available for purchase on-board. Customers may also purchase a ten-ride pass for the price of eight using the mTicket app.
The first train of the 2018 season departs Boston’s South Station Friday, May 25 at 5:50 p.m. Continuing a tradition honoring our men and women in uniform, the CapeFLYER is free to active duty service members or veterans on Sunday, May 27 through a partnership with Cape Cod Cares for the Troops.
In addition to Memorial Day, trains will operate on July 3, July 4 and Labor Day.
