Local businesses had a chance to meet representatives from potential streetcar prime contractors during the free Cincinnati Streetcar Operations and Maintenance Industry Day at the Duke Energy Convention Center held Dec. 17.
The Cincinnati Streetcar is scheduled to begin operating in September 2016. The operations and maintenance contractor will be chosen in 2015 and will need local business suppliers beginning next year.
The free event included briefings from the city and Metro on the streetcar project and provided an opportunity for attendees to preview the Cincinnati Streetcar scope of work for the upcoming operations and maintenance contractor Request for Proposals (RFP).
Local suppliers could be potentially needed for the following:
- Snow removal and landscaping services
- Printing and photography services
- Office furniture and build-out
- Equipment rental and vehicle leasing
- Maintenance supplies, tools and lubricants
- Vending machines and catering
- Personnel and temporary employment services
- Insurance, payroll, security services
- Electrical maintenance, repair services and machine shop fabrication
The industry day also included ample time for local businesses and suppliers to network with potential prime contractors from across the country including Alstom Transport, First Transit, Herzog Transit Services, Inc., Keolis, RATP Dev McDonald Transport (RDMT), Transdev, and URS Corporation.
Bus tours of the new streetcar maintenance and operating facility (MOF) were also held for local businesses that wanted to see the facility.
