Edmonton Transit System’s Control Centre, the nerve centre for ETS operations including LRT, security, and bus operations, has been renovated and is now officially open. The centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round.
“The upgrades and renovations made to ETS Control are part of city council’s vision for building out a safe, reliable transit system that meets the needs of all Edmontonians,” said Mayor Don Iveson. “These improvements are about building the foundation for a system that can develop and expand to handle the public transit needs and challenges of our city now as well as thirty years from now.”
Funding for the renovations and upgrades to the Control Centre was made possible through a $6.2 million Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) grant from the Government of Alberta.

The enhancements to the Control Centre are part of the critical path from the city of Edmonton’s Transportation Master Plan, The Way We Move, which envisions expansion of bus and LRT services, new smart bus and smart fare technologies, and a public transit system that is safe, reliable, and allows Edmontonians a plurality of transit options.
