The Thameslink service used a system called automatic train operation (ATO) through central London.
Monday’s 0946 from Peterborough to Horsham, in West Sussex, was the first time it was used with passengers on Thameslink’s new Siemens Class 700 trains.
The system is part of the $8.7 billion (£7billion) Thameslink Programme to transform journeys on what was one of the country’s most congested sections of railway.
