Metro's New Bus Network Gets More Trips

Nov. 23, 2015

Metro Board members have approved minor modifications to enhance the New Bus Network.  The network launched Aug. 16.  Since then, Metro's Board, staff and bus operators have welcomed feedback from customers on how to fine-tune the more frequent service.

Beginning January, Metro will add more trips to several local bus routes to address overcrowding.  This includes more early morning and late night trips. Metro will also adjust running times on several routes to improve service reliability.

The new network has transformed how the Houston region gets around by providing 78 local bus routes, most of which run seven days a week.  Nearly two dozen routes are scheduled every 15 minutes or better.  Passengers have also taken advantage of Next Bus Arrival Texting, which provides bus arrivals in real time or scheduled time.
