The mobile app aims to make riding and trip planning easier and more accurate for passengers.

A new mobile app has been released by Sun Tran to help make riding and trip planning easier and more accurate for passengers.

The Sun Tran app will replace the current app, which will be phased out, and seamlessly integrates intuitive functions, including:

  • Real-time bus and streetcar tracking;
  • Trip planning;
  • Interactive mapping; and
  • Alerts and detour notification system.

With the mobile app, passengers can know before they go and plan their commute efficiently. Passengers can track the current bus location, see if it is on time and view how full a bus is before going to the stop. Transit riders can locate the nearest bus or streetcar stop, plan a trip and stay informed with real-time arrival predictions and vehicle occupancy.

“Given the ongoing pandemic, we are excited to offer the latest mobility technology to our passengers,” said Steve Spade, general manager for Sun Tran. “In our new normal, transit will not be used like it was before. Demand has changed and this app gives us the ability to meet the expectations of our riders. On the app platform, transit users have easy access to bus and streetcar information, and the latest service updates.”

Sun Tran and Sun Link passengers with the previous Sun Tran app will need to delete the app from their device, and then download the latest app from their app store. The Sun Tran app is available now for download on both iOS and Android.

Sun Tran developed the new app with the Trapeze Group, who is Sun Tran’s current app provider.
