Amid all the recent talk about a proposed $1.4 billion Northside-Southside MetroLink line, Lee Williams says local leaders first need to deal with crime on the existing light-rail system.
Responding to concerns of riders, local elected leaders say they have made dealing with crime on MetroLink a priority. But nine months after announcing a “memorandum of understanding” aimed at boosting security on the transit system, that effort remains a work in progress.
Police agencies in St. Louis, St. Louis County and St. Clair County say they have stepped up enforcement on MetroLink and are cooperating more following a spate of high-profile incidents of violence last year.
