Invensys Rail Recognized for Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts at PATH

In testimony before the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure on Dec. 6, 2012, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Patrick Foye, recognized Invensys Rail Corporation for the Company’s round-the-clock efforts to help PATH restore service between Jersey City, N.J., and midtown Manhattan in the aftermath of super storm Sandy. The PATH system, with annual ridership of 77 million passengers, suffered the most severe damage of all Port Authority facilities. Extensive flooding caused by the record 13 foot storm surge devastated the PATH system which was without service for a week after the storm.

Flood damage required the design, assembly and wiring of three complete PATH signal control rooms. By reallocating and greatly expanding engineering and manufacturing hours and expediting in-coming material supplies, Invensys Rail completed the three signal control centers in three and one-half weeks time. Further, by reallocating and expediting material inventories, Invensys was also able to supply a large quantity of critical signal equipment for other signal locations on the PATH system.
