Metrolinx becomes first transit agency to join Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program

Oct. 30, 2023
Metrolinx riders with non-apparent special needs will now have the option of pinning on the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to signal employees additional help may be required.

To better support the accessibilty issues for its riders with special needs, Metrolinx has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program to support people with disabilities that may not be immediately visible. Metrolinx is the first public transit agency in North America to adopt the program.

Customers may request and wear a sunflower pin, which voluntarily indicates to GO Transit and UP Express employees that additional help, understanding or a little more time may be required.

Toronto Pearson is also a partner of the Sunflower program and offers participants a seamless journey to and from the airport on the UP Express.
