Skagit Transit celebrates 30 years of public transit services

Skagit Transit started as four routes serving Mount Vernon and Burlington and has grown to 19 routes during the past three decades.

Skagit Transit celebrated three decades of public services in Skagit County, Wash., on Nov. 1. 

Since its inception through public vote in 1993, Skagit Transit has played a major role in Skagit County’s infrastructure by helping to foster economic growth and providing residents and visitors services to commute to school, work and appointments.
 
Skagit Transit started as four routes serving Mount Vernon and Burlington and has grown to 19 routes during the past three decades. The agency slowly built its transit system to offer fixed route services, paratransit door-to-door services, County Connectors to Whatcom and Snohomish Counties and rideshare services for regular riders.
