JTA receives FPTA Outstanding System award

JTA Bus Operator Ronald Parson was also named Bus Operator of the Year and Maintenance Technician Sherman Polydor was named Bus Technician of the Year.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) has been named the Florida Public Transportation Association’s (FPTA) Outstanding System for 2020. 

JTA Bus Operator Ronald Parson was named Bus Operator of the Year and Maintenance Technician Sherman Polydor was named Bus Technician of the Year. 

Parson has been with the authority since 1987. He currently drives Route 51 (Edgewood) and is known for his infectious smile, great customer service and polished safety record. 

Polydor is JTA’s assistant vehicle maintenance manager and joined the authority in 2012. His attention to detail, leadership qualities and concern for his customers set him apart from the competition. Each will receive a personalized awards plaque from the FPTA. 

“Sherman and Ronald exhibit the best qualities and values we look for in our employees at the JTA,” said JTA CEO Nathaniel P. FordSr. “The recognition by their industry peers means even more in 2020 as we collectively face the challenges of this public health emergency. I am proud to call them colleagues.” 

The JTA Public Affairs Department was also recognized with several awards in the FPTA’s Marketing Awards categories including: 

  • 1st Place in the Print Instructional Information category for the redesigned JTA Bus Schedules. 
  • 2nd Place in the Interior/Exterior Signage Category for Class 1 agencies for the “Follow Me to the JRTC” bus wrap. 
  • 3rd Place in the Sustaining Campaign for Class 1 agencies for the JRTC at LaVilla relocation campaign. 

The JTA was also awarded the Gold Safety Certificate of Merit Tier 1 for its response to the COVID-19 public health emergency and other contributing factors.
