BYD Heavy Industries has announced that Senior Vice President Macy Neshati has joined the board of directors for the Coalition for Clean Air (CCA).

Neshati has over 35 years of experience in the transit industry. As head of BYD America’s Heavy Industries division, Neshati has overseen the rapid growth of the company, which is the overwhelming industry leader in battery-electric buses in North America. The appointment reflects BYD’s role as a voice in efforts to create sustainable transportation systems. Currently, more than half of all electric buses in the United States were manufactured by BYD.

“I have seen first-hand the innovative technology that can change the world and create a more sustainable future,” stated Macy Neshati, “I am confident my experience will aid CCA in its goal of seeing one million electric vehicles in California by 2023.”

As a Director, Neshati will bring to the table a keen eye in both consumer and electric commercial/industrial vehicles. Prior to Neshati’s appointment, the board did not have a director from the electric vehicle industry.

“Macy will be an excellent addition to CCA’s board of directors,” said Stella Li, president of BYD America. “I am confident that CCA will benefit from his perspective and we are humbled that they honored BYD with a position on their board.”

The Coalition for Clean Air is committed to advancing technology, laws and environmental practices that promote clean and healthy air for all Californians. The coalition currently has a focus on advancing clean cars, as well as minimizing port and freight emissions.
