As demand for its battery-electric buses continues to grow, BYD has announced the appointment of transit industry heavyweight John Manzi to the position of eastern region business development director. In this role, Manzi will oversee sales efforts throughout the Northeastern United States. For the third straight year, BYD is the world’s largest manufacturer of electric vehicles, eclipsing Tesla, General Motors and Toyota.
Manzi brings more than three decades of experience in the transportation industry to BYD. He previously served as a regional sales director for one of the largest manufacturers of diesel and alternative fuel buses in the world, as well as regional sales manager for a leading manufacturer of transmissions for buses and other commercial vehicles.
“I am thrilled to welcome John Manzi to our growing team,” said Macy Neshati, senior vice president of BYD Heavy Industries. “Seasoned veterans like John are now coming to BYD to take their career to the next level, confirming our position as the place to be in the expanding electric transit vehicle market.”
