Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele released the following statement in response to the City of Wauwatosa Transportation Committee’s vote on Tuesday to approve the County’s plan to advance Bus Rapid Transit.
“The City of Wauwatosa is always a great partner when it comes to economic development, public safety, and growing strong communities.
“Tuesday night’s vote by the City’s Transportation Committee to advance Milwaukee County’s plan to implement Bus Rapid Transit is evidence that Wauwatosa also knows that a well-designed transit system, one that is responsive to the needs of riders and businesses, is critically important to connecting workers with jobs in all corners of the county and stimulating economic growth for the region.
“At public input sessions and neighborhood association meetings, on campuses and in boardrooms, Milwaukee County has heard overwhelmingly from people in the City of Milwaukee and all around the county that Bus Rapid Transit will make our transportation system more efficient and help more people connect with jobs.”
