In its continuing efforts to provide an efficient and convenient public transportation system to Cape Cod residents and visitors, the Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority (CCRTA) has announced the addition of the Hyannis Loop. This new route provides additional coverage to the Main Street and West Main Street areas of Hyannis as well as enhances the Barnstable Villager route by providing more frequent service to the shopping malls along Route 132.
CCRTA Administrator Tom Cahir stated, “We are always looking for ways to improve our service and take into consideration all feedback we receive from our customers. This new route, along with the Barnstable Villager, offers our passengers better access to the busiest areas of Hyannis.”
Beginning on Sept. 8th at 7 a.m., the Hyannis Loop West will leave the Hyannis Transportation Center heading down Main Street, North Street and West Main Street. It then continues south on Route 28 stopping at the Barnstable Senior Center before heading to Trinity Christian Academy, Village Green Apartments and all major Shopping Centers before heading back to the Hyannis Transportation Center. This route runs hourly through 4:00 p.m. At 8:00 a.m., the Hyannis Loop East simultaneously travels in the opposite direction hourly through 5:00 p.m. Passengers are now able to coordinate their schedules with the Barnstable Villager for quarterly service to all Hyannis shopping centers. All Cape Cod RTA buses offer flag down service anywhere it is safe along all routes.
A Kick-off event is scheduled for Sept. 16 at 10 a.m.
