Ventura County residents age 65 or older will soon have an opportunity to participate in a Mileage Reimbursement Program for older adults (65+) who are driven by others or those who provide assistance in driving older adults to doctor appointments, shopping and personal errands.
The Ventura County Transportation Commission awarded a two-year contract to Camarillo based Mobility Management Partners for the development and management of this program as an additional mobility option for Ventura County older adults.
A pilot program will begin for Simi Valley and Oxnard residents in December. In preparation, hour long ‘How-to Participate” (HTP) workshops will be held at Senior Centers throughout the county to inform potential riders how they can benefit from this exciting new program. The program will begin countywide on Jan. 1.
Riders, who are residents of Ventura County and 65 or older, and drivers who are interested in learning about reimbursement through this program, are encouraged to attend this workshop. Reservations may be made by calling the phone number listed for the desired workshop. Workshops will be scheduled through Spring, 2015.
