Ecolane was selected by Washington County Transit (WCT) to provide paratransit scheduling software designed to increase accessibility and efficiency for riders in Washington County, Md.

The Ecolane system brings real-time scheduling and vehicle tracking capabilities, helping to reduce wait times, improve service reliability and enhance overall satisfaction for paratransit customers. With the new scheduling technology, WCT says it will be better equipped to deliver dependable, timely rides that meet the unique needs of paratransit riders.

The new scheduling system will also be implemented in WCT’s JOBS Program, a partnership with the Washington County Department of Social Services. This program provides crucial transportation assistance for individuals seeking employment, attending job training or maintaining current employment. Integrating Ecolane’s software into the JOBS Program will enhance WCT’s ability to provide responsive and flexible service for participants, removing transportation barriers and helping more county residents enter and stay in the workforce.

“This partnership with Ecolane represents a major step forward in achieving our mission to enhance the mobility of our customers,” said WCT Communications and Outreach Manager Connor Shank. “By leveraging advanced technology, we can better serve those who rely on paratransit services, making transportation more accessible and user-friendly for everyone in our community. This is more than a service upgrade, it’s a collaborative partnership to create better, more responsive transit solutions for the residents of Washington County.”

The Ecolane platform enables WCT to dynamically adjust routes and respond to last-minute trip requests, helping to streamline the booking process and ensure that eligible riders can more easily access services when they need them.

WCT currently operates 13 fixed routes and offers specialized services through its Ride Assist Voucher Program, the ADA Complementary Paratransit Service and the JOBS Program. WCT says the addition of demand-response scheduling reinforces its dedication to delivering high-quality transit solutions that meet the diverse needs of county residents.
