Thermo King to highlight transit HVAC innovations at APTA EXPO 2026

The company's lineup includes two electric heat pumps, an air purification solution and a sustainable rail HVAC system.

Thermo King will highlight its latest innovations for bus and rail applications at the 2026 American Public Transportation Association TRANSform Conference and Expo, held Oct. 4 through Oct. 7 in Chicago. At Booth #3431, attendees can see technologies designed to help transit agencies advance decarbonization goals, support vehicle performance and improve passenger comfort.

Throughout the show, attendees can explore several of Thermo King's proven and latest transit solutions, including:

  • RE10 electric rooftop heat pump: Thermo King’s first roof-mounted heat pump developed for the North American transit market, which includes an optional integrated Battery Thermal Management System.
  • TDDE electric heat pump: Thermo King’s new heat pump designed specifically for North American electric double-decker buses.
  • Air Purification Solution: Integrated within the Thermo King HVAC unit, this solution was developed to improve in-cabin air quality on transit buses.
  • CTU-8T-BOS rail HVAC unit: Sustainable HVAC system for rail, designed for passenger well-being.

The company says that as public transit systems continue investing in fleet electrification and broader decarbonization initiatives, climate control systems are playing an increasingly important role helping agencies meet performance, efficiency and passenger experience goals.

"Our goal is to help public transportation fleets move forward by delivering innovations that support decarbonization goals, optimize vehicle performance and create a better overall experience for passengers,” said Thermo King Americas Vice President of Product Management Jason Dalebroux. “APTA TRANSform offers us a great opportunity to elevate the technology and sustainable solutions that are shaping the future of transit.”
