SCCTD VanGo launches in St. Clair County

Nov. 5, 2020
The new on-demand public transit service began operating Oct. 19.

The St. Clair County Transit District (SCCTD) launched VanGo, a new on-demand public transit service, Oct. 19.

SCCTD partnered with transit tech company Via to make getting around St. Clair County more convenient. Riders can book trips directly through the SCCTD VanGo app or by calling the SCCTD VanGo support number (618-268-1842).

All rides are free through Nov. 30, 2020, when the 17X Lebanon-Mascoutah MetroBus line will go out of service.

SCCTD VanGo works like a smart bus; after booking a trip, a rider will get picked up in minutes at a corner a short walk from the address entered. Riders will then be matched with other passengers heading in the same direction. Rides may be shared but the maximum number of passengers per vehicle will be limited to allow for safe in-vehicle social distancing.

The best way to use this new service is through the SCCTD VanGo app. After the free ride period ends, all rides will cost $3.00 and an extra passenger can be included for $1.50. Rides to/from the Shiloh-Scott MetroLink Station will only cost $1.00 and children two and under will always ride free. In addition, there will be some options to purchase ride bundles at a discounted price in the app.

Rides are available between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday anywhere within the service zone.
