The tool allows commuters to log their trips that used alternative modes of transportation and also features a trip planner.

A new and improved site to help commuters log their time savings and distance traveled using alternative modes has been launched by Valley Metro Commute Solutions.

Commuters can log alternative modes such as telework, carpool, public transit, vanpool, bicycling and walking. The site also features a trip planner that incorporates data from several sources to provide real-time information on traffic or major events that could impact a commute.

"The new ShareTheRide.com includes a number of new features to help users improve their daily commute,” said Abigail Cooksey-Williams, TDM Manager. “The redesigned multimodal program, combined with gamification features, encourages Maricopa County commuters to choose an alternative mode.”

The new platform includes a mobile app where users can log their trips. Commuters can access the site in both English and Spanish. The platform also offers a suite of solutions to help employers promote transportation options to employees, including integration with third-party apps and personalized subsites with commuter engagement tools.

Valley Metro partnered with RideAmigos, who created and developed the new software.

“Valley Metro’s ShareTheRide program is a leader in commuter engagement and support for employers working to promote sustainable transportation,” said Soren Eilertsen, CEO, RideAmigos. “In the past, running effective programs like ShareTheRide has involved complex administrative processes, and leveraging data to help commuters has been near impossible. Our team is proud to partner with this group of innovators to provide tools that work for everyone in Maricopa County.”
