The Danish State Railways (DSB) is partnering with Alstom Transport UK Ltd and Nomad Digital to supply, design, deliver and maintain onboard passenger Wifi.
This comes from a six-year agreement that was awarded in September 2018. The project is well underway, with the goal of having the entire fleet, more than 250 trains, modernized by the end of 2019. For Denmark to achieve its politically-focused goal of increasing the number of passengers, services need to be improved, expanded and allow for stable internet connection while traveling.
Jürgen Müller, DSB’s executive vice president of strategy and rolling stock said, “DSB is looking forward to offering our customers a new improved free and easy access to the internet in our regional and intercity fleet. We have chosen an end-to end solution from Nomad Digital leaving Nomad Digital with the responsibility to constantly advice DSB on how the customers are secured on a highly stable and intelligent WiFi service.”
Nomad is providing a multi-mobile network operating WiFi solution. The solution offers access to the available internet capacity, while remaining affordable and cost-effective for DSB. The goal is to offer a free WiFi solution that offers high speed connection, enabling use of email and internet browsing.

The WiFi solution is built on Nomad’s latest router technology platform, the R5001. It uses the new Nomad Connect software, creating cutting-edge technology for a simple and smart user experience.
