L.A. Metro fare collection resumes January 2022

Jan. 3, 2022
The agency had suspended front door boarding on buses and relaxed its rules requiring riders to use the farebox and TAP validator.

The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (L.A. Metro) will resume front door boarding and fare collection starting Jan. 10, 2022.

To keep riders and employees safe, L.A. Metro suspended front door boarding on buses in March 2020 at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. L.A. Metro also relaxed its rules requiring riders to use the farebox and TAP validator.

L.A. Metro says it is working to make sure everyone knows about these changes well in advance and has an opportunity to learn about the Low Income Fare is Easy (LIFE) program.

L.A. Metro is also hosting a series of pop-up events to encourage signing up for the LIFE program.
