Safety Trainer Brian works with bus operators before and after they step behind the wheel. Each potential operator goes through weeks of intense safety training to make sure they are ready for the road. #safetyfirst #TuesdayMotivation

The #RTAtour18 was exciting as we got to experience an existing BRT system in operation as we prepare for the same in Wake County and especially Cary. Learning from others is valuable as we work to create the best BRT system in the nation. #Transit #TOD

The Rapid

How Capped Fare Works For the Wave

The Rapid's Wave e-fare system features plastic smart cards and a mobile ticketing smartphone app. The cards and the app will hold pay-as-you-go value to make travel even more effortless than before.

When passengers ride The Rapid using their Wave smart card, they can get the savings of daily, weekly and monthly passes, but without the commitment or the upfront cost. They pay their way one trip at a time, and never pay for a trip they don’t take. The Wave will give them the best deal on their fare based on how much they ride.

RTC Virginia Street BRT Extension Project Begins Soon

Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, Nevada

The RTC anticipates construction activities will start the first week of September. The team may start to place equipment around the corridor in August. The majority of work for the first phase will be complete in spring of 2019.

The first phase of construction will upgrade and relocate utilities underground. The final phase of this project will extend RTC’s RAPID transit bus route north to UNR on Virginia Street, further connecting Reno’s Midtown and downtown area to the campus.
