Here’s what’s great about the electric bus panel at the #APTAannual18 conference: it’s not just California. It’s Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana on the panel. There is a nationwide web of transit agencies disrupting the combustion bus status quo. #RightToZero

"The definition of a city is lots of people living close together. It doesn’t matter how many people want to drive cars—it’s how many will be able to drive cars. It cannot continue this way because we will run out of space.” https://www.citylab.com/transportation/2018/10/is-public-transit-doomed-in-the-us/572698/ … #transit

Different forms of #mobility, often remain isolated in cities. The smartest way is to bundle them all and create a platform that guarantees accessible and affordable mobility for everyone! #MaaS

TriMet • @trimet

TriMet is adding a new bus line to get workers and travelers to and from Portland International Airport late at night and early in the morning. TriMet is also splitting its longest bus line and adding frequent service in East Portland to decrease wait times. The expansion brings more and better service, improved connections to jobs and other destinations, and increased access to safe, reliable transportation throughout the region.

Metropolitan Transit Authority • @MTA

MTA New York City Transit launched the newly redesigned Staten Island express bus network on Sunday, Aug. 19, with Transit President Andy Byford, senior Transit officials and a significant amount of customer ambassadors at key locations across Staten Island and Manhattan to monitor and help ensure a smooth rollout.

“For years, customers on Staten Island have endured express bus rides that were not at all express, and we heard them loud and clear,” said President Byford. “With their help and the support of Borough President James Oddo and our labor partner, ATU Local 726, we are now able to give those customers what they deserve — faster, shorter routes and more service at all hours of the week. We are extremely grateful to the Borough President and Local 726 for helping us make this redesign possible.”

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reopened the 72 St station on the B, C lines following extensive work to repair deteriorating infrastructure and modernize the station environment with improvements such as digital signage for real-time service information, enhanced wayfinding and station entrances, energy-efficient lighting and updated security equipment.

In mezzanine and platform areas where wall tiles were in need of replacement, MTA Arts & Design installed a new ceramic mosaic titled “SKY” by Yoko Ono. “SKY” comprises six separate mosaics spanning both station platforms and mezzanine. The mosaics altogether measure 973 square feet and show a blue, cloud-filled sky embedded with written messages of hope.
