rabbittransit has moved its central operations and maintenance facility from 1230 Roosevelt Avenue to 415 Zarfoss Drive, York. The new location was a former Pfaltzgraff distribution center that began major renovations in June 2015.
The renovated property allows for a much needed expansion to house vehicles and administrative staff supporting a multi-county regional transit operation and call center.
“Refurbishing existing space allows us to tap available infrastructure, but modernize it for efficiency,” commented rabbittransit Executive Director, Richard Farr.
The site was originally purchased with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds offering 100% federal financing without the need for local match. The proceeds from the sale of the 1230 Roosevelt property will go toward the cost of renovations.
The downtown Transfer Center at the corner of King Street and Pershing Avenue remains at its current location. The transit authority’s phone number, web and email information also remains the same. The Route 5W serves the new Zarfoss location.
In addition, rabbittransit has partnered with West Manchester Township to allot part of its property grounds for a West Manchester Township soccer field for public use to begin as early as 2017.
