The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration announced on Tuesday, August 14, that Metro has purchased a TSA-vetted and approved Thruvision portable, advanced passenger screening technology that will help detect weapons and explosive device security threats on the Metro transit system. Metro is the first surface transportation agency in the nation to purchase such an advanced, high-tech security device.
TSA Administrator David Pekoske, Metro, Metrolink and law enforcement officials will also detail their partnership to help keep the public transportation system safe and secure.
