Feb. 28--A Coaster train struck and fatally injured a man in Carlsbad Wednesday night, authorities said.
The collision occurred about 6 p.m. south of Tamarack Avenue, a sheriff's official said.
Authorities said a man was walking on the tracks when he was hit by the northbound train going about 75 mph. He was declared dead soon after.
Two Coaster trains, 661 and 663, were delayed during the investigation by Carlsbad police and sheriff's deputies.
North County Transit District, which operates the trains, tweeted that buses were being used to get passengers between the Poinsettia and Carlsbad Village stations.
The Sheriff's Department investigates all train-related injuries and deaths in the county.
