When it comes to security, Winnipeg Transit can either drive toward having enforcement officers like Toronto or fully qualified police officers like Vancouver.

Mark Cousins, the chief special constable for the Toronto Transit Commission's transit enforcement service delivery group, said his 51 front-line special constables have made the city's subways, buses and street cars more safe.

Earlier this week, a group of Winnipeg city councillors called for the creation of a dedicated transit police or security force on the city's buses.
