Herzog and W&LE completed interoperability testing for Positive Train Control (PTC) in November.
Herzog was able to complete W&LE’s lab and field testing with revenue service that started on
December 15th. With interoperability testing complete, W&LE has met the requirements of the
FRA and can run PTC-active trains on Class I territory.
The relationship between Herzog and W&LE has eased W&LE’s transition into PTC, and led to
W&LE being CSX’s first interoperable freight tenant.
W&LE is using Herzog as Hosted Service Provider and PTC Operations Support Desk.
Transitioning into the 24/7 support role has begun.
