Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation will suspend scheduled track improvement work for this summer's two big holiday weekends, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Amtrak and the Michigan Department of Transportation will suspend scheduled track improvement work for this summer's two big holiday weekends, Independence Day and Labor Day. Customers can now book travel with three complete Wolverine Service round-trips this weekend, July 2-4, and again on Sept. 3-5.

Three Pontiac-Chicago Wolverine round-trips are also maintained on the modified schedule every Sunday. Two round-trips are offered the balance of the days, Monday-Saturday, through the completion of the projects and restoration of full service after Sept. 23.

Reserve and purchase on Amtrak.com to see schedules and fares or to eTicket.

Work continues to improve state-owned railroad infrastructure between Battle Creek and Jackson as part of Michigan's Accelerated Rail Program. When complete, this track and signal work will result in improved reliability and a smoother ride for customers, along with an expansion of the Midwest's first 110 mph Amtrak service.

The Port Huron-East Lansing-Chicago Blue Water also serves Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. Both the Blue Water and Grand Rapids-Chicago Pere Marquette schedules are largely unaffected by the temporary schedules.
