Parsons announced Aug. 22 that the Tutor Perini/Zachry/Parsons joint venture recently received an executed contract from the California High-Speed Rail Authority to construct the first segment of the California high-speed rail system. The contract is valued at approximately $985 million, plus an additional $53 million in provisional sums.

California’s high-speed rail — the first high-speed rail system in the nation — will connect the mega-regions of the state, contribute to economic development and a cleaner environment, create jobs, and preserve agricultural and protected lands. Parsons is serving as the lead designer and construction partner for the first segment, which will stretch 29 miles between Madera, Calif., and Fresno, Calif.

“We are delighted to confirm signature of this contract, and we look forward to proceeding with full execution of this significant rail and infrastructure project,” said Todd Wager, Parsons group president.
