LAN promotes Timothy Schmidt to vice president

Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc. (LAN) has promoted Timothy Schmidt to vice president.

Schmidt, who joined LAN in 1989, has 37 years of experience in the rail and transit industry. During his career, he has successfully managed numerous light rail, commuter rail and bus rapid transit projects. Currently, he leads the firm’s transit sector in California where his responsibilities include client, project, design and program management. He is especially sought after by clients for his expertise in the Construction Management/ General Contractor (CM/GC) delivery method and has served as a project manager or construction manager for a variety of CM/GC transit projects.

Some of his signature projects include the BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension in San Jose, Calif., South Corridor Phase 2 Extension in Sacramento, Calif., storage and maintenance facility for San Bernardino County Transportation Authority’s Redlands Passenger Rail Project, DCTA A-Train in Denton, Texas, and DART’s Phase 3 Blue Line Extension in Dallas, Texas. To implement these projects, he has also collaborated successfully with the Federal Transit Administration, Federal Railroad Administration, American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, Union Pacific Railroad and the California Public Utilities Commission.

He is a member of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), Leadership APTA Alumni (Class of 2007), American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association and the American Council of Engineering Companies’ Santa Clara Chapter.
