The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) has named Frederick Gilliam as its new chief operating officer.
In his new role, Gilliam leads the operations, safety and risk management, maintenance and facilities departments and oversees DART's fixed route and paratransit services.
Gilliam comes to DART after serving in several roles, including director of road and bus terminal operations for New Jersey Transit for 17 years. Following that, he worked as director of transportation for the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany, NY.
He holds a bachelor's in economics and marketing from Rutgers University. Gilliam succeeds DART CFO, Jamie Schug, who was serving as interim COO.
