CDM Smith has announced that Praveen Pasumarthy, PE, PTOE, has received the Young Member of the Year award and the Past Presidents’ Award for Merit in Transportation from the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). Praveen was recognized for these national awards on August 15 during ITE's 2016 Annual Meeting and Exhibit.

Pasumarthy has been with CDM Smith for 12 years as a traffic engineer and transportation planner. A member of ITE since 2005, he has been involved in many facets of the organization at local, state and international levels: newsletter editor for the Texas District of ITE, president of the Big Bend Florida Chapter in 2015, secretary and treasurer of the Big Bend Florida Chapter in 2014, and, currently, social media committee chair for Florida Section ITE. He is also a member of the ITE Traffic Engineering Council’s Executive Committee.

The institute's Young Member of the Year award represents the next generation of the transportation engineering industry, recognizing members under the age of 35 who have already shown exemplary ability and leadership. The Past Presidents’ Award for Merit in Transportation is awarded by a panel of ITE's past presidents to highlight the accomplishments of promising, young engineers in the field.

ITE is a community of transportation professionals devoted to finding mobility solutions and upholding safety standards through collaboration, research and education. The organization’s 13,000 members bring together unique knowledge and experiences to create a network of transportation engineers, planners, consultants, mentors and researchers working together to create a smoother path to the future.
