Palm Tran has continued to embrace an open dialogue with bus operators, mechanics and everyone involved in delivering safe, efficient and courteous public transportation in Palm Beach County.

Palm Tran has continued to embrace an open dialogue with bus operators, mechanics and everyone involved in delivering safe, efficient and courteous public transportation in Palm Beach County. Palm Tran Executive Director Clinton B. Forbes established a series of town hall meetings for Palm Tran leadership to share updates with staff, encourage a group-think process and provide a venue for operators, mechanics and technicians to share ideas and comments.

“It is important to communicate and train our employees because they’re valued stakeholders in Palm Tran’s progressive growth and operations,” Forbes said.  “Palm Tran belongs to all of us, and each Palm Tran employee offers a unique perspective — that’s why this type of feedback is so valuable,” he added.

The town halls are part of a larger Palm Tran initiative to enhance the bus ridership experience, foster teamwork and create operational efficiencies. More than 400 Palm Tran employees have participated in the town halls to date.

“The town hall meetings are very informative and allow me to meet with other employees I might not otherwise interact with on a daily basis,” said James Hickman, a Palm Tran bus operator for the past 14 years.  “I enjoy receiving updates on uniform standards and operations — as well as communicating my ideas,” he added.

“Palm Tran’s leadership is dedicated to maintaining open communication to promote a culture of learning and growth. These town halls have helped Palm Tran leadership gain valuable insights and strengthened working relationships,” Palm Tran Director of Operations Sean K. Smith said.
