Sun Metro is joining public transportation systems nationwide to commemorate the 8th annual national Dump the Pump Day on June 20 by introducing two instructional videos online.
The videos, titled “Ride Sun Metro,” and “Fare Ride,” give viewers a general overview on how to ride Sun Metro and how to use the Sun Metro fare boxes. The videos are also available in Spanish.
The videos can be viewed online at Sun Metro's website, the Sun Metro YouTube Channel and on the Sun Metro Facebook page.
These videos can help many El Pasoans who have never boarded a bus, but are interested in riding Sun Metro, learn how. Sun Metro encourages the public to view the video so they can learn to save money and reduce their carbon footprint.
Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the 2013 national Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car. Started in June 2006 when gas prices were $3 per gallon, this national day emphasizes that public transportation is a great travel option that also helps people save money.
Since gas prices reached $4 or more in various U.S. cities, saving money is on everyone’s minds and public transportation is the quickest way to beat high gas prices. According to the latest APTA Transit Savings Report, individuals in a two-person household can save an average of more than $9,700 annually by downsizing to one car.
