URS Names Jack Waldron Senior Vice President, National Director, Design-Build

Nov. 26, 2018
URS Corporation has named Jack Waldron, PE, senior vice president and National Director, Transportation Design-Build Projects.

In this position, Waldron is responsible for leading URS’ transportation design-build practice for all modes, including highways, bridges, rail transit, freight railroads, airports and marine ports. He is based in Santa Ana, Calif.

Previously a URS vice president, Waldron has served as the firm’s vice president of Design-Build for the West Group since 2006. He has held key assignments on some of URS’ largest transportation planning and design projects, including the $6 billion I-710 reconstruction in Los Angeles, the $5.5 billion San Francisco to Oakland Bay Bridge replacement project, the master plan and environmental document program management at Los Angeles International Airport, and the $1.2 billion Los Angeles to Long Beach light rail transit project.

Waldron began his career with URS in 1986 and served as the California transportation division manager until 2001. He was the chief operating officer at T.Y. Lin for five years before rejoining URS.

Waldron holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Penn State University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

“Both public and private sector owners of transportation facilities are increasingly relying on design-build contracting as a means of efficiently executing capital projects,” said Albert Bast, PE, URS’ senior vice president for Surface Transportation. “Jack Waldron’s experience in the execution and management of multi-billion dollar projects using the design-build contract delivery system will position URS as the preferred designer to the firm’s construction industry partners.”
