The Rockford Mass Transit District launched its new 30-day unlimited access pass for post-secondary education students in the Rockford area. The New “U-Pass” will be offered to students who are enrolled in programs at any of the following local institutions:
- Rock Valley College
- Rockford Career College
- Judson
- Rasmussen
- U of I College of Medicine
- Rockford University
- NIU Rockford
The cost of the U-Pass is $27 and will be available for students to purchase for the start of the 2023 spring semester. There is no age limit to be eligible for the U-Pass, however, students must be enrolled in at least one course from the previously mentioned institutions and have a current valid school ID to utilize the pass.
The U-Pass will be offered as a one-year pilot program before being evaluated to determine continuation of the pass.
RMTD is implementing this program in an effort to reduce financial barriers for students accessing educational opportunities with transportation issues. The U-Pass is another step in RMTD’s effort to help ensure that everyone in the Rockford area has a reliable and affordable transportation option.
